AIDIO didn't start in a boardroom. It started with a conversation between a photographer and a mixing engineer, both watching AI arrive at their front door at the same time.
In 2023, Rafael's wife (now AIDIO's CMO) is a photographer, keynote speaker, and advocate for human-centric AI. When Midjourney got good, really good, the kind of good that makes a working creative question everything, she felt it firsthand.
She didn't step back. She stepped forward. She coined the term "AI-Fusion", blending AI-generated environments with real portrait photography, and built it into an international career. She has spoken on stages from New York to Germany and Switzerland, authored a book on AI for creative professionals, and continues to argue for keeping the human at the center of the creative process. But in that moment in 2023, the fear was real.
"If you're going to lose your job to AI, mine will be gone first. I've been using it in music since 2010."
Rafael had spent years as a mixing and mastering engineer, working alongside artists and running his own production school. He knew better than most how AI was moving through music. So instead of waiting, he started asking the question that would become AIDIO: what's actually missing from the tools that exist right now?
Every AI tool Rafael tested fell into the same two traps: too simple or too complicated. Either it made a decision for you without explaining anything, or it buried you in controls that took months to understand.

His background in music education pointed at a different answer. He had watched students improve not when they were given the right answer, but when someone sat beside them and explained why things sounded the way they did. That's what was missing from every AI audio tool on the market.
Not a replacement. A companion. Training wheels that explain themselves.
The idea for AIDIO was to build something that listens to your mix the way an experienced engineer would, finds what's pulling it apart, and walks you through fixing it. Step by step, with real numbers and real reasons. A tool that makes you better every time you open it.
The idea existed long before the product. For a long time it lived in documents, pitch decks, and grant applications. At its most ambitious, the infrastructure alone would have cost over €3 million to build and operate: servers, R&D, engineers, UI design, the works.
They applied for government grants. They waited. They were redirected. They applied again. The technology changed, cloud infrastructure improved, the numbers got better. Funding still didn't come. VC conversations went nowhere. Angel investors found the space too early, too risky.
Then a small government grant opened a door. A research and development program with FH Hagenberg, the University of Applied Sciences in Upper Austria. It took a full year. The prototype they built together was far from what AIDIO is today, but it proved something important.
It proved that scaling the way Rafael hears and thinks about a mix, and turning that into a structured LLM-driven workflow, actually worked. The brains of the idea were real.
After the prototype, funding attempts continued and came up short again. Then, in 2026, the tools changed. Claude Code gave Rafael the ability to build properly, without a team of engineers.
1,800 hours of development later, AIDIO went from prototype concept to a finished, tested product. Not a demo. Not a pitch deck. A tool that professional engineers opened, used on real sessions, and came back to.
The first piece of music mixed entirely with AIDIO's guidance was released publicly. It crossed 100,000 streams in a matter of days.
That's the validation that matters. Not a pitch competition. Not a grant committee. Real music, real ears, real numbers.
There are tools that will master your track in a single click. AIDIO is not one of them. We believe the most valuable thing an AI can do in a creative workflow is help you understand what you're hearing and why, so the next mix is better than the last one.
AIDIO lives inside your DAW. It listens to your stems, compares them to genre targets and your own references, and gives you specific, actionable feedback in plain language. It tells you what's happening, what to try, and why. Every session is a lesson, whether you're three months in or thirty years in.
